Lincoln Parish Fire District No. 1

Membership Requirements and Application

The Lincoln Parish Fire Protection District No. 1 always welcomes new volunteers. There's a place for everyone in this organization, even those who have no desire to fight fire. There are plenty of jobs to be done by support personnel on a fire scene that are just as important as actually fighting the fire. It only takes as much time as one is willing to give, and it's a good way to give something back to the community. Volunteers with the department come from all walks of life. Our volunteer staff includes teachers, business owners, bankers, police officers, nurses, retirees, farmers, business administrators, laborers, and college students, just to name a few. Anyone who is interested is encouraged to join with us in our efforts to provide the citizens of Lincoln Parish with the best possible fire protection at a minimal cost.

There are a few basic qualifications that must be met in order to become a volunteer member of the Lincoln Parish Fire Protection District No. 1.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Applicants must own or have access to a vehicle.
Applicants must reside within five (5) miles of a fire station.
Applicants must be in good physical condition.
Applicants must successfully complete the basic fire training class.

Even those volunteers who have no desire to fight fire are encouraged to complete the basic fire training class. The basic fire training class gives one the abilty to better understand what occurs in a fire, as well as a better understanding of what a firefighter experiences while fighting a fire. Once a volunteer has completed the training and all other requirements are met, the member is placed on a probationary status for six (6) months. After the six month probationary period, the prospective member will become "active" after a vote of the respective station members.
