Lincoln Parish Fire District No. 1

About Us

The Lincoln Parish Fire Protection District No. 1 was created for the citizens of Lincoln Parish in 1991. The Fire District is comprised of a group of dedicated citizens who volunteer their time and work together as a team to assist others in times of trouble. These people can simply be described as "neighbors helping neighbors." Volunteers with the Fire Protection District come from all walks of life and are united with the common goal of helping others. But these people do far more than just fight fires. At a moments notice they can be assembled together as a group to assist others in a variety of tasks:

They teach fire safety classes at local schools
They assist local authorities in locating lost people
They assist in cleaning up after storms that occur in the community
They provide assistance with automobile accidents
AND, they fight fires!

The men and women of the Lincoln Parish Fire Protection District No. 1 give of themselves and ask for nothing in return. The only reward they receive is the satisfaction of having helped someone in a crisis situation.

The Fire District is governed by a Board of Commissioners that consists of seven members who are appointed by the Lincoln Parish Police Jury and the Town Councils of the incorporated areas within the District. This Commission is responsible for hiring a Director of Fire Services and an assistant. The Director and his assistant answer to the Commission and are responsible for the daily operations of the fire department and the training of its members.

The Lincoln Parish Fire Protection District No. 1 currently holds a Class 4 rating, as established by the Property Insurance Association of Louisiana (PIAL).

There are currently six paid employees of the Fire District, including the Director and Administrative Assistant. However, it is the approximately 75 active volunteers who dedicate many hours annually to training and emergency response to provide the citizens of rural Lincoln Parish with the best fire protection possible that makes the system work. Without them, there would be no Lincoln Parish Fire Protection District.
